Hello
Oracle 10.2.0.4 Windows 2008 MSCS Cluster I have a big problem and I need your advice. Initial Situation Last Sunday I had to upgrade database patch from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 in a MSCS environment. I started with node A, I applied 10.2.0.4 software and this procces finished correctly. After that, I started to update generic patches for 10.2.0.4 version. During the processing, directoy where ORACLE_HOME resides was full. I deleted .patches_storage directory ( I konw, this is an error Current Situation I have to finish applying generic/interim patches in node A, but I don't know the correct steps. I have readen that If I have deleted .patches_storage directory, I cannot apply new patches over this ORACLE_HOME; I will need a new ORACLE_HOME, and I don't know which is the correct procedure. Solution A 1. I can restore ORACLE_HOME in release 10.2.0.2 release ( I have a backup of it) 2. Apply again 10.2.0.4 patch over this ORACLE_HOME 3. Apply interim/generic patches Solution B 1. I can copy ORACLE_HOME from node B in node A 2. Modify listener.ora, tnsnames.ora (some more files?) Solution C 1. Copy .patches_storage from node B to node A I don't know if this is possible, perhaps it is only a silly idea Please, read these solutions and tell me your opinion, or the correct way to procedure. Thanks in advanced Cheers! |

Have you performed post upgrade activities in NodeB? That is running the startup upgrade and running of various sql scripts? If yes, then Oracle Database (the database) is upgraded and Oracle software (kernel) nicely installed on NodeB. Then you Solution B will work. Just copy the bin directory from NodeB to NodeA.
(on rethink & edit) -- Copying just Oracle bin directory is un-elegant (but it works). I'd go with your copying of Oracle_Home directory from NodeB to NodeA. As usual, since this is a production system, please take backup of database in NodeB and the Oracle_Home directory in NodeB before doing the above act. Cheers and All the Best! |
