Dear Experts,
Info: BW3.5, Windows 2003 Server Enterprise, MS SQL 2000 Enterprise on 32-bit We are having problem to display graph consumption from BW Portal, it takes longer time and more than 6 minutes to produce the graph. SAP has advice us to set/change this parameter in BW3.5 to improve the performance 1. rsdb/esm/buffersize_kb to 204800 from default value 4096 2. rsdb/obj/max_objects to 4000 from default value 2000 SAP also has advice us to update the kernel from patch level 43 to the latest kernel patch 304. I have replaced the kernel to the latest patch(304) and change the parameter according to SAP advice. After make the changes to the parameter, I'm unable to restart the sap instance. Under Process List -> disp+work.exe always in status: stopped, Process List in yellow colour and no item show in WP Table. After change value for parameter rsdb/esm/buffersize_kb from 204800 to 2048, I'm able to restart the instance. Can somebody advice me, how to make the instance can be up with this parameter value,rsdb/esm/buffersize_kb = 204800? Regards, Micro |

SAP recommend you to increase a value 50 times its initial value. This looks like your problem, no?
for now, try a smaller value such as 40960 as see what happens. then, go back to SAP as tell them that their recommendation is causing startup issues. |

I have reply the msg in service marketplace and informed them accordingly that the value given unable to up the instance and also attached certain *.old files from work directory to them for further checking.
Later I will try your with the value that you advice and see whether I'm able to up the instance or not. |
